The game

What is That's Not For Sale?

A first-person horror-comedy pawn shop for 1-4 players. Haggle with monsters, inspect items for curses, figure out which customers are lying about what they are, and refuse to sell the one item keeping you alive.

Is it scary?

Spooky, not gory. Think jump-scares and paranoia ("is that really Gary?") broken up by a gnome with a traffic cone on his head. There's no permadeath: if a customer knocks you out, you wake up on the floor a little poorer.

How long is it?

A full run to retirement takes many nights across several storefronts, and nightly customers and stock are randomized. The free demo covers the Back-Alley Shack, nights 1-3.

Buying & platforms

How much does it cost?

$14.99 USD in Early Access, with a 10% launch discount. The price may increase slightly when the game leaves Early Access. The browser demo is free.

Steam or direct: what's the difference?

Buying direct on this site gets you the DRM-free Windows build and a license key. Steam gets you Steam lobbies, achievements and auto-updates. Wishlisting on Steam is the single best way to help a solo dev.

What platforms?

Windows at launch, plus the browser demo. Mac and Linux builds and Steam Deck verification are planned during Early Access.

What are the system requirements?

Modest: a 64-bit Windows 10/11 PC with any GPU from the last ~8 years and 4 GB of RAM should run it well. If the browser demo runs smoothly for you, the full game will too.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. See the refund policy. Steam purchases follow Steam's own refund rules.

I bought it but lost my download link.

Check your email for the purchase receipt (it links back to your download page), or email support@thatsnotforsale.com from the address you bought with.

Co-op

How does co-op work?

One player hosts and gets a room code; up to 3 friends join with it. Everyone runs their own register and sells from the same stock. The host's save carries the crew's progress. Full details on the co-op page.

Do my friends need to own the game?

For the full game, yes, each player needs a copy. Anyone can play co-op in the free demo.

Can I play solo?

Absolutely. Gnomez will keep you company. Whether that's a good thing is up to you.

Early Access

Why Early Access?

It's a solo-dev game, and the best customer and curse ideas will come from players. You vote on what comes next from the main menu, and every update hits a public beta branch first.

How long will it be in Early Access?

Roughly 18-24 months. Planned: the Antique Row and Grand Exchange storefronts, boss customers (the Devil, Death, the Landlord), more cursed items, seasonal events and, as a stretch goal, Steam Workshop customers.

Can I stream or make videos?

Please do. Monetize them too. A streamer-safe music toggle is in the settings. Grab assets from the press kit.

Is any of it AI-generated?

No AI art in the store capsules or key art. If any shipped in-game asset is AI-assisted, it will be disclosed on the Steam page, as Steam requires.
